Scenario Cards

Eight themes, two editions, one question — what would you do?

See the full series

Addiction & Mental Health is free

Both editions of the first theme are open to anyone signed in, on either plan. There is nothing to buy — you just need an account. I wanted every clinician to be able to run a deck with a real client before deciding whether the format belongs in their practice.

The seven themes behind it release into the member library as the interactive versions are built.

All sixteen printed decks are available now. "In production" below refers to the interactive version only — every theme can be bought in print today. See the printed decks

What they are

A situation, four choices, and what tends to happen next

Every card puts a young client inside a situation they may already recognise. They pick what they would actually do — not what sounds like the right answer — and then see where that choice tends to lead. The other three outcomes open afterward, so the comparison is available without making the first decision feel like a test.

No outcome is the correct one. Each carries something, and that is where the clinical conversation starts. The cards are written to be worked through with you in the room, not handed over and left.

What comes with each deck

  • Twelve illustrated situations built for the age band, in language clients use themselves
  • Four possible choices per card, each with the outcome it tends to produce
  • A discussion prompt that moves the card from what happened to what it means
  • Clinician themes for every card, so you can pick by what you are working on
Available now

Addiction & Mental Health, both editions

The first theme to arrive as interactive tools. Twelve situations in each edition, seen from a young person's side of a parent's substance use or mental illness.

The series

Eight themes, Kids and Teen

Kids editions are written for ages five to twelve, Teen editions for adolescents. Addiction & Mental Health is free with an account. The remaining themes release into the member library as they are built.

Also available in print

Every theme is produced as a physical deck — portrait cards on laminated stock, wet-erase, built to live in a bag and take a beating. The printed decks work the same way as the interactive ones: read the situation, pick a choice, turn over the outcome sheet.

Wholesale pricing is available for programs and larger caseloads.

How clinicians are using them

The decks were built for the room first. Nothing is saved or stored, so they run safely on a shared office device.

  • As an opener with a client who answers every direct question with "I don't know"
  • To surface a situation a client is living in without asking them to disclose it first
  • In family sessions, where a caregiver hears their child's reasoning instead of their conclusion
  • In groups, where the disagreement between members is the material
  • Over telehealth, read aloud, with the client choosing out loud

Scenario Cards are clinical reflection tools for use with a clinician — not assessments, screening instruments, or standalone self-help resources. Outcomes describe what tends to follow a choice; they are conversation starters, not predictions or recommendations.

The decks live in the member library

Membership opens the full clinical resource library, every Scenario Cards deck as it releases, monthly content drops, and 20% off shop products.
