Hotspot Description

If a client refuses to participate in a screening or becomes overwhelmed:

– Don’t push. Pushing can damage rapport.
– Don’t label. Declining is not the same as ā€œnoncompliance.ā€
– Do validate: ā€œIt’s okay to take a break. We can come back to this when you’re ready.ā€

Screening works best when clients feel emotionally safe.
